Who we are
Shuaruta is a small family-run company. We are not trying to become a large organization. Starting from the family as the most primitive form of autonomous co-existence, we make tools and connect with communities. The reason this company exists is for communities to feel glad that Shuaruta is here.
What the slogan means
Peaceful days
Peace is not something managed. It is the state of being able to engage with the world at your own pace. It is not the security gained by delegating to someone else; it is the quietness that comes from being autonomous. This phrase also describes how Shuaruta itself exists: as a family, small, and continuing at a sustainable scale.
Glimmers of delight
A glimmer is not an external stimulus. It is a premonition that wells up from inside the user. Something is about to begin, something is about to change — that faint movement. Shuaruta wants to be a glimmer that moves communities and society. Not to cause large changes itself, but to be a presence that anticipates the conditions under which change can happen.
Design philosophy of tools
Shuaruta’s tools exist not to have someone else act on your behalf, but to help you feel and form relationships by yourself. Tools do not replace human autonomy. They create room for autonomy to be exercised. They do not give answers; they create places where questions can emerge.
This resonates with the design philosophy Ivan Illich called “conviviality.” Tools should catalyze the user’s autonomous relationships, not pull users into dependence.
The people Shuaruta faces
The relationships Shuaruta’s tools address are autonomous relationships outside institutions. For example, people with disabilities and their communities. The ability to control one’s own information environment is at the core of convivial relationships. Shuaruta’s tools do not intrude on those relationships; they make room for the relationships to continue.
Autonomous co-existence with pets
Conversing with dogs and cats is a means, not an end. Behind that desire is the experience of having a presence nearby that receives your feelings and state without language. Pets already provide that experience without words. The structures that support autonomous co-existence exist in dimensions beyond technology.
Ethics of technology choice
Vision and technology choice must be consistent. It would be contradictory to promote autonomous co-existence while designing systems that continuously send user data to external servers. Secure and private AI, processing that completes locally, and structures the user can modify. These are not cost choices; they are questions of honesty in design.
NVDA has been maintained by an open-source community and functions as a tool users can modify and redistribute. That history is continuous with this philosophy.
The language of the vision
Shuaruta is a small company born from a family. It exists beside people who live in autonomous relationships outside institutions, with a design philosophy that believes in each person’s own power. We do not aim to grow large. When communities and society move to their next state, we want to be a presence that embodied the premonition ahead of time. And for everyone involved to feel that they are glad Shuaruta was here — that is the reason this company exists.
